Jim Root is the Chairman of the International SPA Association, the leading worldwide professional organization of the spa industry. Root has enjoyed a 30-year career in Spa and Hospitality management at some of the leading resort and destination spas in Europe, Asia, Mexico and across the United States. He has been acknowledged for his employee team building, crafting unique and life-changing experiences for Spa guests and his organizational vision.
As General Manager of Spa Operations at Sea Island Resorts, Root is helping to direct the renewal of an icon, The Cloister and The Spa at Sea Island. The Spa at Sea Island, a portion of the $350 million renaissance to the property is a 65,000-square-foot Spa and Fitness Facility and Resource for Health, Fitness and Wellness. In addition, Root oversees the Sea Island Beach Club, Shooting School, Naturalist Programs, Yacht Club and Tennis Center.
Root received a B.S. from the Cornell University School of Hotel Administration, class of 1977, and is a long-standing member of the Cornell Hotel Society. Jim and Meg, his wife and partner for 21 years, are the parents of Jimmy, 7, and Chris, 3
